Couples Therapy

Healthy relationships are imperative to our overall health. Couples therapy is an investment. I will work with you on new ways of seeing yourself, your partner and the relationship in order to gain insight into your current patterns and learn new possibilities for preferred patterns of connecting and finding support.

Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT-C):

  • Is for couples who want to break free from frustrating cycles that never end

  • Decreases distress through increasing partners' abilities to reach out, make contact, and feel secure

  • Is clinically proven to be 75% successful in restoring emotional connection and satisfaction in relationships

  • Has been validated by over 25 years of empirical research

  • Is effective in addressing various difficulties including infidelity, breach of trust, trauma, change and loss

Individual Therapy

In Individual Therapy, I work with you to build a solid foundation of trust, respect and security so you feel comfortable enough to address the painful reasons you are seeking support in therapy.

You are unique, and my approach to you, though informed by my training and research, will be as unique as you are.

Supervision

The supervisory relationship is an important one for students just starting out in psychotherapy, RP (Qualifying) and more seasoned therapists who are looking for extra support and witness to explore case formulation together. I have been supervising students at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto since 2018 and love exploring experiences, hypotheses and finding new directions when a therapy situation feels stuck.

Initial Intake Process

When you contact me for therapy, we’ll schedule a short, 20 minute consultation video call to discuss your needs and whether we are a fit.

If we decide we can work together, we will then schedule an hour-long introductory appointment. I’ll take a short history, and go over your life situation to understand your goals for therapy and patterns. We will start to form an idea of what we are going to work on and how we will work on it. After the intake process, I may also recommend that you seek other sources of support. I may assign short pieces of homework depending on your preference. We can continually assess whether you are benefitting from therapy, how you are benefitting and what might help even more.

Health Insurance Coverage

If you have an extended healthcare plan through your employer or insurer, you may be covered for therapy sessions with a registered psychotherapist or an occupational therapist. OHIP does not cover these sessions. Check with your employer or your insurer to determine if you are covered to see a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), or an Occupational Therapist (OT). The psychotherapy I provide falls within the scope of both RP and OT professions.

Occupational Therapy is a permitted medical expense under the Canada Revenue Agency medical tax credit.
